Emergency rules override the booklet. Check them before you go. (official site, opens in a new tab)

← All 50 states

The official booklet is the final word. We make it easier to find, but wardens go by the booklet, and a missed rule can mean a fine or losing your privileges. Check the latest changes before your trip.

How this works

Each state's fish and wildlife agency, and its boating, parks and off-road agencies where they're separate, publishes the rules. We link straight to their official pages and booklet PDFs. We never summarise or restate a rule.

  • Current: today is inside the dates the booklet prints.
  • New edition due: the printed end date is 30 days away or less.
  • Check agency: the booklet prints no dates, or they have passed.
  • Booklets coming: we haven't verified this state's PDFs yet, so the tile opens the agency's own page.

File sizes come from the agency's server, so you know what a download costs on mobile data. Planning dates show only when an official page states them.

About this tool

Finding the right regulations booklet shouldn't mean digging through ads and menus. This tool takes you to the current official booklet for your state and activity in two or three taps, says which edition is in effect, and puts the emergency rule changes right beside it. Every link goes to the agency's own site, and every booklet shows the day we last checked it. We review the links every year, when most booklets roll over between March and July. The official booklet is the final word, so check the latest changes before your trip.
