Draft — pending review

This page is a draft. It hasn't had its owner and legal review yet, so it may change. Notes marked “Owner” are details still to be filled in.

The short version

  • You're welcome to read, play, and print from this site for your own personal use.
  • Our guides and tools help you plan. They give estimates, not promises. Check official sources and current conditions before you go, and make your own safety calls outdoors.
  • The words, photos and puzzles here belong to us or to the people credited for them. Please ask before reusing them.
  • Some links earn us money. Disclosures explains how.

Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms cover your use of henricksoutdoors.com ("Henricks Outdoors", "we", "us"), including Trail Mix games, tools, printables, and the Field Dispatch email list. The site is run by [Owner: the legal entity name. The site footer says "Henricks Media, LLC"; confirm].

By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Using the site

  • Everything here is free to read and use for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
  • Printables are free to print for personal use, like at home, in a classroom, or on a family trip.
  • Please don't copy large parts of the site, republish our guides, photos or puzzles, or collect the site's content with automated tools, without our written permission.
  • Please don't try to break, overload, or get around the protections on the site or the Field Dispatch service.

Outdoor safety

Weather, water, wildlife, fire, trails, rules and permits change, sometimes quickly. Our guides, tools and games are for general information and planning:

  • Tools give estimates, not guarantees. A tool that estimates hiking time or daylight can't see the conditions where you are.
  • Weather comes from the National Weather Service. Always check the official forecast and any alerts before you go.
  • Rules, fees and permits come from the agencies that set them. Check with them for the current rules.
  • Nothing on this site is medical, legal, or professional safety advice.

You're responsible for your own decisions and safety outdoors, and for the people in your care.

Unless a page says otherwise, the text, photos, puzzles and designs on this site are owned by [Owner: the legal entity name] and protected by copyright. Photos and data from other sources belong to their owners and are listed, with their licenses, on the Credits page.

Field Dispatch

If you sign up for Field Dispatch or the Trail Mix weekly pack, we'll only send what you signed up for, and you can leave at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email. The Privacy Policy explains what we keep and why.

The site links to other websites, including the owner's family of sites, sellers of books and gear, and government agencies. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, prices, or policies. Buying something through a link is between you and that seller, on their terms. Some links earn us a commission; see Disclosures.

No warranty

We work to keep the site accurate and working, but it's provided "as is." We can't promise that every detail is complete, current, or error-free, or that the site will always be available.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss or harm that comes from using the site, relying on its content, or visiting sites it links to. [Owner: legal review of this section's wording.]

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Owner: the governing-law state], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top changes. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
