RiverPulse reads the live water level for a river or lake from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the forecast from the National Weather Service. Both are free public services, and your browser asks them directly.
To say whether the water is high or low, RiverPulse compares today's flow with the USGS records for the same date at the same gauge: below the 10th percentile is much lower than usual, the middle half is normal for the date, and above the 90th percentile is much higher than usual. A gauge without enough approved history says so instead of guessing.
Some USGS numbers are provisional: they can still change after review, and RiverPulse labels them. A reading more than a few hours old is shown with its age and isn't used for the outlook.
Near me sends a box about 55 miles around you to the USGS to find gauges. Your exact location isn't sent or saved.
RiverPulse never stores or invents seasons, limits, sizes or fees. Each state page and each plan links to the state agency's own license and rules pages.
Your saved waters, their last readings and your settings stay on this device. You can clear them any time from RiverPulse's settings.
